Crazy, cool country! Chilling out or foot stompin’ fast. Pennsylvania’s Americana Region is the one place where it’s ok to enjoy whatever floats your boat, drives your wagon, or powers your engine. Let your hair down, have fun, come alive to jumpin’ country music, savor hot/cool jazz, chow down on world famous Pennsylvania German pies and cakes, chile peppers, pretzels, farm fresh goodies, tour historic farms, enjoy craft beers and penny candy, chase foul balls, watch ice hockey, and shop for your favorite new things or new/old things, or attend the world’s largest World War II gathering, all in one place! If you want a great introduction to our region, plan to visit during one of our very famous festivals: Berks Jazz Festival, Kutztown Folk Festival, Berks Country Fest, Chile Pepper Festival, Reading Pretzel Festival and Taste of Kutztown. Space gets tight, so make your reservations early. While you’re here, check out the schedule for the Fightin’ Phils and Reading Royals, to take in a game. Santander Performing Arts Center features some great county acts.
No one visiting Pennsylvania’s Americana Region can miss the American Treasure Tour, which holds about every piece of Americana one could ever want. On your tram tour though the treasures, you’ll spot all things that claim to be pure American from miniature circuses and classic automobiles to music machines and model airplanes. If you want to buy any of those things, you’ll have to visit Adamstown, the Antique Capital of the USA. Another great place is Renningers’s Farm Market and Antiques, where you can also get a bite of lunch and Tom Sturgis Pretzels, where they have been making the same time-honored pretzels since 1861. Tickle your sweet tooth at the Peppermint Stick Candy Store.
When it’s time to find that one great piece to take home, we have it all: Koziar’s Christmas Village and Murdough’s Christmas Barn for all things seasonal. Shop the original outlet stories in America at VF Outlets. It’s A Gift or the Holistic Skate Shop for unique items and VF Outlets for everything else.
For some great restaurants to match your Americana experience, try Brewer’s Bar and Grill for great craft beers, Ugly Oyster Draft Haus, an authentic Guinness pub, Stoudt’s Black Angus Restaurant, and the Brookside Family Restaurant, serving everything.
