September in Berks County brings a diverse lineup of events that highlight's our rich culture and local community. This month brings lots of festivals and plenty of fun. Gather with friends and family and enjoy everything the area has to offer. Here’s a look at some of the key events happening around the county this September.

 

 

Chile Pepper Food Festival: September 6-7th 

Can you handle the heat? The Chile Pepper Festival is a favorite among Berks County locals! Check out a variety of hot sauce and salsa vendors, as well as different chile pepper-related items, plus entertainment. On the milder side? The festival offers food for every taste. This event is handicapped accessible, has a children’s playground, and is rain or shine. 

 

 

Leesport Community Days: September 6-7th 

Join Leesport Area Historical Society for their annual community days. This event showcases local organizations and businesses, offering a fun mix of food, games, music, and a silent auction. You’ll also find a variety of food trucks serving up delicious options. Saturday brings an exciting night ending with fireworks at 9 PM. In case of rain, the event will be moved to September 8th.

A 1940's Hangar Dance : September 7th 

Head over to the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum for a 1940's Hangar Dance, featuring Generations Big Band. Enjoy an evening of music and dancing. Refreshments available for purchase from Klinger's at the Airport. Doors open at 6:00PM and the music starts at 7:00PM. Tickets can be purchased in advance, or at the door for an additional cost. 

 

Boyertown Oktoberfest : September 13-14th 

Raise your steins and pay homage to the traditions of German culture. Discover a selection of German and locally brewed beers in the beer garden. Enjoy live German entertainment, artisan vendors and food trucks. The Boyertown Oktoberfest is located at Boyertown's Town Center East Parking Lot.

Oley Fair: September 19-21st 

The Oley Fair is also known for its famous French fries, hamburgers, and much much more. Food vendors will not be found at the fair, rather, you will find delicious homestyle food and the smell of famous good Dutch cooking aroma in the air. Bring along your friends and family and experience this great fair! 

 

 

Kutztown Radio Meet: September 20-21st 

Sponsored by the Delaware Valley Historic Radio Club, this event features over 200 booths filled with antique radios, parts, audio equipment, ham radios, and related items, all housed under two large pavilions. It’s a great opportunity to meet experts who specialize in fixing and restoring antique radios. Note that this is a non-computer show. Don’t miss the Friday night auction for a chance to bid on some unique finds.

 

Heemet Fescht : September 21st

Experience regional folk culture with live music, traditional arts, barn star painting, folklife demonstrations, pumpkin painting, and children's crafts. Heemet (pronounced HAY-met), means "home" in Pennsylvania Dutch.  This event is held in Kutztown, Pennsylvania at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center. 

 

 

Night at the Museum: September 21st

Experience a night at the museum at Reading Public Museum! They will be celebrating the opening of "M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations," an exhibition showcasing the mesmerizing art, math, and optical illusions of Dutch artist Maurits Cornelis Escher.

The night will include an open bar, delicious food stations by Special Occasions by Panevino, live music, a silent auction, and a variety of desserts. It’s an evening of art and entertainment you won’t want to miss!

West Reading Fall Fest: September 21st 

Attend West Reading Fall Festival and enjoy the wares of over 200 craft and retail vendors, including food trucks, beer, wine, and spirits, plus music on three stages! Family fun includes free bounce houses and creative opportunities. The fall fest goes from 11 AM - 7 PM. 

11th Annual Guts & Glory Digestive & Wellness Expo: September 28th 

The Annual Guts and Glory Digestive and Wellness Expo, celebrating its 11th anniversary, is a free, community-wide health event hosted by My Gut Instinct and sponsored by PSU St. Joseph. The expo features a farmers' market, educational booths, fresh local food, fitness zones, yoga, massage, and wellness experts. With over 100 vendors, attendees can enjoy interactive demonstrations, including a MEGA Colon exhibit that offers an immersive look at colon health. This event aims to inspire and empower the community to take charge of their well-being for a healthier, longer life.
