September is Craft Brewery Month in Pennsylvania. Our state may be well-known for its beer history and brewing, but we want visitors to discover the best places to drink great beer this month and all year long in Pennsylvania’s Americana Region!

Whether you are visiting or a local, we want to shed some light on places across the region brewing fabulous craft beers for you to enjoy in Berks County.

Broken Chair Brewery

The Broken Chair Brewery is a family-run business that grew out of a desire to produce just right beers that everyone could enjoy. After perfecting a number of beers in their garage/brewery, the family moved the business to the next level, a cozy, storefront location on Penn Ave in West Reading. Today, guests are welcomed into an all brick tasting room. A glass door in the back of the space provides a view of Broken Chair’s unique small brewing system. Plan a stop at the brewery to enjoy a wide range of meticulously crafted beers – everything from traditional American IPAs, to Irish Red Ales, seasonal Pumpkin Ales, stouts, porters, sour beers, and more!

1787

When in Hamburg, PA, be sure to visit 1787 Brewing Company a microbrewery and restaurant in the heart of the downtown shopping area. The brewpub has a minimum of eleven beers on tap at all times and offers a great selection of carefully-crafted ales, lagers, and stouts along with special seasonal brews. In addition to the libations offered, 1787’s restaurant offers daily wonderful specials and a wide range of delicious family-friendly and vegetarian menu choices.

Saucony Creek Brewing Company

The Saucony Creek Brewing Company is a spacious and modern gastropub in Kutztown known for its unique craft beers and and tasty pub fare. Since launching in 2013, Saucony has worked to inspire glass-clinking camaraderie through its creations. The brewing company is named after the creek and water source that runs through its production grounds in Kutztown. The winner of multiple Pennsylvania Farm Show beer competitions, Saucony strives to unite like-minded brewers, craftsmen, chefs, farmers, friends, and local businesses to create the best beers with the best ingredients.

A second location, Saucony Creek at Franklin Station, opened in downtown Reading, PA in July 2019. The newer venue occupies the magnificently restored Reading Railroad Franklin Street Station. This passenger train station was originally built in the early 1930s in the Renaissance Revival Architectural style and was completely restored in 2013. Three story arched windows provide guests with an up close view of the passing trains as they dine on an adventurous New American menu that perfectly compliments Saucony’s beers.
