Cooler Air, Cooler Festivals
There’s no slowing down this fall in Pennsylvania’s Americana Region. Our amazing assortment of arts, festivals, and historic happenings offer non-stop entertainment across Berks County. Some of September’s offerings include the Chile Pepper Food Festival, Pep Boys NHRA Nationals, West Reading Fall Fest, Oley Valley Community Fair, Berks Fiddle Fest, and the ever-popular Reading Liederkranz Oktoberfest. As baseball season winds down, you can Ride for the River or take a fall-themed train ride with one of our local railroads. It’s also a great time to check out new exhibits and events at local museums, art centers, and historic sites. Love searching for treasures? Adventure is calling
If your looking for optimum conditions for outdoor fun and unbeatable locations for adventure, you’ve come to the right place. Pennsylvania’s Americana Region delivers the basics and more. Dayhike on the Appalachian Trail or trek to the lookouts of Hawk Mountain Sanctuary – one of the best places in North America to watch the annual fall raptor migration. If you’re traveling with your dog, the trails at Blue Marsh, Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, and Nolde Forest are pet-friendly. Cyclists, take a spin on our internationally ranked mountain biking trails or enjoy the scenery our picturesque country roads offer. Keep an eye out for the covered bridges and colorful hex signs you’re bound to see on your travels. Weather permitting, canoe, kayak, and fish to your heart’s content on local waterways. Try disc golf and geocaching at French Creek State Park, or kick back and watch the wildlife. When the day is done, keep the adventure going and sleep under the stars (or in a cabin) at a local park or campground.

It’s a tasty time to visit Pennsylvania’s Americana Region. Be sure to stop at farmers’ markets and roadside stands while you’re in the area. Stock up on harvest-fresh fruits and vegetables, seasonal flowers, and pumpkins. Look for homemade whoopie pies, chow-chow, and everyone’s favorite, pretzels. The cooler temperatures find our restaurants offering heartier PA Dutch fare along with their everyday favorites. The Berks County Wine Trail’s many sampling events include happy hours, food and wine pairings, music, and fall-themed tastings.
