Through exceptional arts education and engaging community programming, GoggleWorks Center for the Arts inspires people to expand the boundaries of art making, personal growth, and appreciation for material culture. Located in the former Willson Goggle Factory building in downtown Reading, GoggleWorks is the largest arts center of its kind in the country. The 145,000 square foot complex features seven teaching studios in ceramics, hot and warm glass, metalsmithing, photography, printmaking, and woodworking; 40 juried artist studios, several exhibition galleries, event rental spaces, Boscov Film Theatre, and Store. The complex also houses dozens of local dance, music, arts, and other creative businesses and cultural organizations.
GoggleWorks welcomes thousands to Arts Festival Reading, the area’s premier art and fine craft festival, held annually on the first weekend in October. In addition, GoggleWorks presents Spotlight Night every month on a Friday evening from 5:30-7:30pm. Spend a dynamic, interactive, and free evening immersed in the arts as you preview new exhibitions opening in our galleries, hear artist talks, visit our teaching studios, and see live demonstrations in a variety of craft techniques. GoggleWorks offers year round classes and workshops for aspiring, emerging, and established artists ages 7 and up; including our popular monthly Maker Dates, Mini-Maker! Family Workshops, 5-week intro’s, and Handcrafted Home series. Other programs include the After School Arts Program, summer camps, and private workshops for adult and youth groups. Day visitors to GoggleWorks can view exhibitions in several galleries, take in a movie at the Boscov Film Theatre; with screenings daily at 3:00 and 7:00pm, shop handcrafted items in The Store; and coming in Fall 2017, enjoy locally-sourced foods and craft beverages in the new bistro and bar. Free tours are given every Wednesday at 1:00pm. GoggleWorks is open daily from 9am-9pm; admission and parking are always free.
