Pretzels were invented by monks who wanted to use the last bits of bread dough to make something special. The Spannuth Family has been making their pretzels, called Splits, in the late 1800’s. Using a “unique” baking process, the raw pretzels are let set to perfection and then placed into a hot oven which bursts the dough open, creating bubbles and crevices. The process delivers a crispy, yet crunchy, treat. The 6th generation of the family still produces the highest quality pretzels without unnecessary additives, created only by using their knowledge of the baking process to achieve the finest flavors and textures.
