Welcome Aboard the WK&S Railroad!
Step back in time to when railroading was king and experience the WK&S Railroad! Located in northern Berks County, immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of a real life railroad, very much unchanged since the turn of the early 20th century. You’ll travel in a beautifully restored coach built in 1913, experience a trip in a vintage caboose, or even ride the rails for a 360 degree view in our open car.
Your 40-minute train ride covers 3-1/2 miles of track…perfect trip for the budding railroader to the veteran railroader (no matter what age you may be)! During that time, you will be treated to some of the most beautiful scenery in Berks and Lehigh County…from the apple orchard to the Ontelaunee Creek to the Blue Mountains, along with all types of wildlife, including an occasional bald eagle!
The WK&S offers a wide array of special events throughout the season for kids of all ages to enjoy! The Easter Bunny Express, Bow Wow Express, Wine and Cheese Trains, Rails and Ragtime, BB&C (barbecue, beer and cigars), Harvest Moon, Kids’ Fun Weekend, Pumpkin Patch, Apple Picking, WK&S Pink Ribbon Express and MORE! And no year would be complete without Santa, Mrs. Claus, the Elves and Frosty!!!
The WK&S is the OLDEST tourist line in Berks County (formed in 1963) and is run entirely by hard-working, qualified volunteers who are dedicated to keeping the history of railroading alive in our little corner of the world! We receive no federal, state or local funds…solely dependent upon revenue from train rides, gift shop and refreshment stand sales.
We invite you to take a step back in time and join us at the WK&S in Kempton, Pa.
